The demonstrated quality of Covenant Academy's academic standards are continued by maintaining quality curricular programs.  The outstanding characteristic of our curriculum is its strength in the core subjects.  Language Arts focuses on intensive phonics that promote mastery of the basic components of the English language.  This method not only teaches the foundation of reading, but it also teaches word analysis thus building higher level critical thinking skills.  Coupled with our phonics program is an emphasis on writing which is putting the pieces of the language together.

Consistent instruction application in phonics and writing is essential to grammatical excellence in thought and expressions.  Because reading is foundational to academic success, we strive to give students the tools necessary for superior reading comprehension and content.  We believe high quality reading material cultivates high quality language skills and character development.  Vocabulary is another essential component of Covenant Academy's Classical Christian educational philosophy.  Our vocabulary study concentrates on Greek and Latin roots which are the foundation of the English language.  A classical vocabulary program constructs the mental framework for deciphering the terminology of science and technology as well as preparing for college entrance testing.  The final part of our core curriculum  is math.  Saxon math is recommended and approved nationwide.  The approach of this math program is to teach and train students through the cumulative approach for the math concepts and computations.  The Saxon math program integrates multi-sensory learning, fact memorization and mental word problems at the grammar school level with proven success.
