Ethan Hammock (class president) and Annie Minton (class vice-president) were chosen to lead the hundreds gathered that day by carrying the official banner for the march.

National Young Leaders Conference - Congratulations are in order for two of our outstanding CA students. Miss Kristen Henning and Miss Abigail Jackson both attended the Fall, 2008 National Young Leaders Conference sponsored by the Congressional Youth Leadership Council in Washington, D.C. The NYLC is designed to instruct and enrich promising students in a hands-on, experiential atmosphere while preparing them for a lifetime of leadership. Students are chosen for nomination to the NYLC based on their high academic achievements and their potential for leadership. Congratulations to these two young ladies for their accomplishments.

Piano - Julie Thomas, a ninth grader at CA, has been named the Recital Class Winner in the statewide piano competition sponsored by the Georgia Music Educators Association. She also won the Four Hand Competition with her sister. Julie will go on to play at the GMEA convention in Savannah, GA in January. One ACT - How about a Big Hurrah for our One Act Play! We traveled to The Brook Run Theater in Dunwoody, GA last Wednesday to compete in the Region Competition. Even though our season endured the mishaps of participants dealing with an emergency appendectomy, a torn hamstring, and performance day throat and stomach problems, our students put on the best performance yet. The competition was excellent and although we did not win a trip to the state competition, the day could hardly
have gone better. In addition, our own Stephen Howard came home with a “Best Performer” award. Great job Stephen and congratulations to all involved.

Cross Country - The Covenant Academy Cross Country team did a great job at the State meet yesterday. The girls varsity finished fourth overall and the boys varsity received State runner-up. Our JV runners had their work cut out for them running with AAA teams, but both JV teams had a great showing as well. We had many great times yesterday out of all the runners, but doing especially well were those who made All-State. Among these for JV were Ethan Hammock and Jessica Smith. The All-State runners for varsity were Winter Brown, Luke Hayden and Andrew Swicegood, and winning her overall race was Victoria Coppage!!!

Homecoming Queen - Congratulations to Miss Maggie Sowell for being chosen as Covenant Academy’s first ever Homecoming Queen.
