Logic School (7th & 8th Grades)
Covenant Academy’s curriculum has been developed in accordance with the three stages of the Trivium, the foundation of Classical education. The Trivium is divided into three stages that correspond to the natural development of children. The Grammar Stage begins around the age of four as children develop an innate curiosity and love for learning. It is followed by the Logic or Dialectic Stage, which corresponds to the upper elementary and middle school years. The final stage in the Trivium is the Rhetoric Stage and corresponds to the high school years.
The Logic or Dialectic School (Middle School)
Covenant Academy continues to develop a quality academic curriculum for students in the Logic or Dialectic school. This school seeks to establish students in the laws of logic as they study Bible, history, science, English, mathematics, and computer technology. During this stage of development many children begin to challenge authority and question what they have been taught. The Logic School takes advantage of this natural inclination by introducing the rules of proper reasoning as students are taught to think clearly. They learn that disagreement need not be disagreeable and that their opinions must be always seasoned with respect rather than rebellion. Students continue their studies in Latin and are allowed some freedom in selecting their electives.
