Headmaster's Notes
Grandparents Day is Friday, March 28th beginning at 10:00 a.m. A letter detailing parking and shuttle plans for the day is being mailed to all grandparents today. While additional parking has tremendously assisted our day-to-day operations, the continued growth of our CA family necessitates an overflow plan when we host special events on campus. The overflow plan for Grandparent’s Day ’08 is as follows:
Our teachers will park off campus and shuttle to school on the morning of the 28th. In addition, we are asking our grandparents who are able to park either at Vineville North Baptist Church on Zebulon Rd. or across the street from our campus at Ayers Road Baptist Church. Both churches have graciously agreed to allow us to park on their campuses for Grandparent’s Day. In addition, shuttle buses will run throughout the entire day so that CA’s families and guests are accommodated. This parking plan will allow our out of town guests and grandparents who are unable to shuttle to have plenty of on-campus parking spaces available.
Shuttles will begin as early as 8:30 a.m. and will run as long as is necessary, after the program, until everyone has been accommodated. Directly in front of the gymnasium will be a drop-off point for those who wish to car-pool, drop off family / friends, and then proceed to park. Our Upper School students will serve as greeters/ ushers and assist families out of their cars and into the gymnasium for the program.
Please turn in your students Serv-a-thon label and “goes by” sheets by this Thursday, March 13th. Remember that this Friday, March 14th is a school holiday and teacher workday. Also, our last CAP (Covenant Academy Parents) meeting for this year is Monday evening at 7:00 p.m.
Congratulations to Elaine Deckbar and our team of literary participants who competed at the Region Literary competition in Carrolton last week. Covenant was well represented and our students have worked extremely hard in each of the disciplines that God has gifted them in. All of our performances were outstanding and our students made Covenant very proud. Special congratulations to Caleb Timmerman and Abigail Jackson who will compete in the State Literary meet in Valdosta this Thursday.
Have a great week!
Danny Howell
Booster Club
It’s baseball, track, and little league baseball season. Come get your stadium seat from the CA booster club! And for those rainy spring days or even when the sun is shining brightly a CA golf umbrella will protect you from the elements. The stadium seats are available for $45.00 and the umbrellas for $20.00 in the Rams Spirit Shop.
Athletic Highlights
Varsity Track - The boys and girls have had a great start to their 2008 Varsity Track Season. Competing against Mount de Sales and First Presbyterian last Wednesday for the first meet is always a challenge but the track team held their own against the two AAA schools. Scoring the most points for the boys was Stephen Howard with a first place finish in the Long and Triple Jumps and a second place finish in the High Jump. The girls represented Covenant well with Victoria Coppage finishing first in the 1600m and 3200m. Taylor Kasey also finished first in the 200m. It is great to see the Rams off to such a strong start and we look forward to see what they can do in this busy week ahead. The Varsity will be at Stratford on Wednesday and they will be traveling to Statesboro on Friday for the Gator relays this Saturday.
Rams Baseball - Covenant Academy played their first ever B-Team game at Morgan Field on Monday. Gunnar Mendiola, Luke Hayden and Stephen Howard pitched as the Rams lost to Stratford. The C-Team plays a double header against CFCA today at 4:00 at Morgan Field.
Carpool
Please be sure to display your carpool cards in the carpool line for easy identification and to expedite the carpool.
