WELCOME TO THE GRAMMAR SCHOOL (K-6th)

Where Curiosity, Exhilaration, and Adventure Await.

Young children are especially adept at memorization during the early, foundational phase of learning. Because of this, Covenant's classical educators utilize a combination of learning techniques that include rhyme, song, motion memory, repetition, and more —all techniques designed to engage your child’s memory.

In the first phase of the Trivium (grammar), our Language Arts center on intensive phonics that promote the mastery of the basic components of the English language. This methodology not only teaches reading, a foundation for academic success, but also word analysis to prepare for higher-level critical thinking. Along with our phonics program is an emphasis on grammar and writing. Working together, these components promote grammatical excellence in thought and expression. We focus on reading whole books to experience literary development. Cursive writing is studied for mastery. Latin is introduced in the fourth grade, providing an understanding of the English language and the framework for deciphering the terminology of science and technology. An emphasis on fine and performing arts along with music is studied from our K Program forward. An additional aspect of the core curriculum is Saxon math, which integrates multi-sensory learning, memorization, and mental word problems projecting students to take calculus by the 11th grade.

The Grammar years are moments of wonder, excitement, and adventure where our students explore a world that is new to them. It all begins with the marvel of letters, transitioning into the thrill of reading, propelling them into adventures that span the past, present, and future.
